Harley Davidson Internships Propel McKee Students to First Place in Automotive Competition

Only seniors can enter the annual Greater New York Dealer’s Association (GNYDA) automotive competition held at GNYDA’s Queens campus. For the second year in a row, students from Ralph R. McKee Career and Technical Education High School (RMHS) on Staten Island bested teams from six other New York City schools that have automotive programs.

New York City Wins 29 Medals in Statewide SkillsUSA Competition

May 12, 2014

New York City public high schools placed high in the statewide SkillsUSA Competition at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Over 2,000 students competed in 82 categories like 3D Visualization, Construction Skills, IT Technologies and Health Care. Eleven New York City schools sent their biggest contingent yet, winning 29 medals in a broad set of contests. Many winners will go on to the SkillsUSA National Finals in June in Kansas City.

Equipped to Dive, Students Make Aquarium Their Classroom

Andrew Sutchen, 18, was keeping his head down, trying to ignore the fish. It was hard to concentrate on the task at hand: underwater housekeeping for the New York Aquarium in Coney Island. “They kept biting my hair,” he said. “I felt a tug and saw that one had pulled some out.”
